December is flying by. it's a great time to think about what next year should look like. Here are six resolutions for Tony and me.

1. Back up files on a regular basis

We still resort to the old fashioned methods of putting client files on CD and on external hard drives. But there are some very cool web-based tools, such as Backupify to help you protect emails, social networking information, calendars and contacts.

2. Offer more social media services to clients
It’s time to make it official. In 2011, we’ll launch our Social Media services. Watch for it.

3. Attend more industry functions
I love conferences and seminars, but need to find the time for them. There’s TIMA,Linking Raleigh, Internet Summitand even the local chamber of commerce. Just like it’s fun to talk to parents who have kids the same age as mine, it’s refreshing to meet folks who do what we do--and love it just as much.

4. Reduce our energy output
Sure, we pay our utility bills online to save the paper, but I know there is more we can do. With four active computers in the office right now, there has to be a way to be smart about power consumption. The first thing we have to do it start powering down our machines every night. The Energy Detective might be a good little investment, you think?

5. Have more in person meetings
When we first started working in North Carolina, most of our clients were in the New York area. Then things started to shift to be half and half. In the last few years, our client base has shifted to NC-based businesses, but we’re still in the habit of using the phone. In fact, we have one client who works only about 40 minutes away. We’ve worked for them for about four years and only just recently met in person! We also might start doing demo’s of new sites using Fuze or some other real time screen sharing tool.

6. Blog more
I’ve outlined blog practices and strategies for dozens of clients. And this blog is a fantastic tool, but I neglect it. What is the saying -- the cobbler’s children have no shoes? Well, my kid has too many shoes (and most of them sparkle in some way or another) but my web site needs more blogginess.

Any suggestions? Speak up!
