You know what a rebound is: the person you date after a major breakup. Where you’re all raw and bloody from the last go-round and either overly eager to try again or hesitant that you can ever make it work.

The same concept goes for web designers. And recently, we had the opportunity to become a rebound designer.

I had a very interesting conversation with a client yesterday in which she told me she has too much room in her store. "I have to buy all this inventory to fill it," she said. And like most of us, she isn't rolling around in extra cash with which she can do that. But without that inventory, the space looks desolate and her store looks weakened. It's a stickey wicket. As a result, she's looking for new space down the street in what will probably be a much better location for her.

It's an exciting (and scary) time to be a small business owner, and Walker Interactive client The Happy Factory is no exception.

A client just asked me, "should I be tweeting? Or twittering? Or whatever it's called?"

Technically, you use Twitter to write a tweet. Or send a tweet. Or tweet a tweet, as it were. But however you say it, YES, you should be doing it.

Sometimes I think the best kind of call is a client saying "Yes, we'd like to work with you." But truth be told, the absolute best kind is when an existing client calls to say she got a huge win -- and her web site is the reason.

This is fascinating. The Flash issue (or lack thereof) is a pretty contentious one, to say the least, and I've already discussed it here. I have long been an Apple person (before there were Mac people, really) but I find the Cupertino folks position on Flash very... well, very Microsoftish.

I sometimes wish there was a bigger fanfare for when a new site goes live. I know there are press releases and tweets and blogs (cough, cough) but I wish there was some music, some doves fluttering into the sky... but alas. Sites go live every day and few people notice

Now, now, this is a family site. Let's keep it clean. The F word I mean is FLASH.
